Heroes for Hire sample cover

Here's the finished pencils for the cover.  Okay, so there could be some refinements here and there but this is finished for all intents and purposes.  The final image wound up very similar to the breakdown version.  The thumbnail seemed to have more of a bird's eye view than anything that followed.  Obviously there is a greater attention to detail here as well.

I decided to change the orientation of Misty's right arm (her right) and have it laying at her side instead of above her head.  This was pretty much a last minute change since I started sketching it above her head like I had in the previous sketches but decided to change it and am happy I did.  Other than that her pose remained fairly consistent.

It's a Marvel image so I didn't want to get too bloody.  In fact there is no blood or visible wounds at all.  I guess I was more concerned with the implied actions than getting into the gory details.  To that end I made sure I kept the smoke billowing from the gun barrels and added some spent bullet casings at Punisher's feet to make sure the viewer knows that Punisher is responsible for Misty's unfortunate position despite the lack of blood or eviscerated organs.  That's also why I chose some smaller guns for him to be holding (smaller being a relative term considering who we are talking about here).  Anything too large and I think there would almost have to be more bodily injury shown to Misty.  The handgun is small and doesn't cover up any part of Punisher too much while the uzi-type weapon (it's based on reference I found online, I have no idea what it actually is) was an opportunity to draw something a bit larger and "fun".

So that's it for now.  If I make any dramatic changes I'll be sure to update things here.  I should be able to get to work on the actual Heroes for Hire interior samples next and I'll post my progress as I'm able to.
